Make your own beautiful Christmas Kissing Bush to decorate your home in fine Manx styie this Nollick!
A kissing bush is a centuries old Manx tradition that predates Christmas Trees! Hanging the bush marked the official start of Christmas and the merrymaking period known as 'Kregeesh Ommidjagh' (Foolish Fortnight).
Similar to the tradition of mistletoe, a Kissing Bush serves as a focal point for fun and of course as good spot to invite a kiss!
At the workshop Felicity will help you create your very own Manx Kissing Bush with decorations featuring Manx Gaelic words in celebration of Year of the Manx Language.
Willow hoops, fairy lights, ornaments and a small string of faux re-usable ivy will be provided. - Feel free to bring along any extra natural foliage or other trinkets / decorations to make your bush your own!
There will be a Lantern Parade at 4.30pm leaving from the Cathedral for the Christmas Light Switch On event at 5pm at the Market Square in Peel - You are very welcome to join this with your Kissing Bush!
