Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of local Exmoor pony charity, The Moorland Mousie Trust, the Festival welcomes Exmoor pony enthusiast and charity supporter Karen Minto to re-introduce the beloved tale of 'Moorland Mousie, the Life Story of a Child’s Pony'.
The charming story of an Exmoor pony, written in 1929 by Murial Wace under the pseudonym Golden Gorse, brings nostalgia of a time since past. Illustrated by Lionel Edwards the tale and name 'Moorland Mousie' has assisted the charity, which took its inspiration from the book, in raising the profile of Exmoor ponies and the charity founded in 2000 to promote and protect the rare breed. The legacy of Moorland Mousie lives on and even though the 4x4s of today’s world have replaced the original Exmoor off roader, Exmoor ponies and their heritage play a huge part in the past, present and future stewardship of our beloved Exmoor countryside.
