The CREST Star Award is a nationally recognised body and STEM award which encourages children to explore STEM in an accessible way.
It aims to connect with childrenâs everyday experiences, making STEM fun and relatable. After completing at least six activities, children can earn a Star CREST Award. It does this through a structured yet adaptable scheme.
To achieve a CREST Star Award, each individual participant engages in a range of activities and documents them in their own learning journal (children who cannot yet read or write will need a parent to help them).
SESSION STRUCTURE:
âïž 1pm-1:10pm: Make a hot drink and introduce the challenge for the day and explain to the children what they will need to do.
đŹ 1:15pm-2:15pm: Nature STEM experiment
đ 2:15pm-2:30pm: Write up activities in their journals
đ„ 2:30pm-3:30pm: Explore & play in our Forest School & toast snacks on the campfire
*Children are to be supervised by their grown up at all times, staff are there to facilitate learning experiences and activities, we leave the parenting to the parents.
The gate will be closed from 1:10 until 3:30. Please close the gate behind you if you arrive late/leave early.
đ„Ÿ Suitable clothing for the outdoors including coat, wellies/walking boots and a spare pair of clothes is essential.
âïž Dietary requirements can only be accommodated if the booking is completed 48 hours prior to the session start time. Please bring a cup/mug for hot drinks.
đWe meet at the gate to Dare Valley Community Woodland at 1pm (please arrive 5 minutes early if you have chosen to pay with cash). *Please DO NOT park or stop on the grass. Cars MUST be parked in the visitor centre carpark.

Sessions are non-refundable, however, transfers are available up to 12 hours before the start time. (With exception of emergencies).
