Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) programme is a 2-day interactive workshop designed to help participants recognise a person in suicidal distress, understand their needs and the needs of themselves as caregivers, and use language to reach a shared understanding that can empower a person in distress to keep themselves safe from suicide and avail of further supports.
*** safeTALK training is the foundation of ASIST. Please ensure you have attended safeTALK ahead of registering for ASIST**
To Note:
Please be aware of the emotional nature of the content of our training and take time to self-care after training; see www.yourmentalhealth.ie for more information. If you have been bereaved by suicide or affected by suicidal behaviour in the recent past, please attend only when you feel emotionally ready to do so.
You must be available to attend both days consecutively and in full for certification. This training may be eligible for CPD points from your accrediting body. Please contact them directly for further details.
You must arrive at 8:45 a.m. each day for registration. Please ensure that you are on time as late arrival can affect the covering of the material for the whole group. The training will finish no later than 5pm each day.
We would ask that you only book a training place if you are certain you can attend on that date and in that county, this is so that we can avoid reduced numbers on the day of training. While the training is free to you as a participant, it is delivered at a cost to the HSE.
