Strut your stuff to a mix of chart and retro music. Street Dance developed from the streets of Harlem, New York as part of hip hop culture. It rejected the structures of classical dance styles in favour of natural rhythms, personalised style and a mixture of dynamic qualities.
Each week, pupils will explore different aspects of street dance technique and develop their own style of movement within it. They will learn different routines and learn to create their own.
There will be multiple opportunities throughout the school year to perform, culminating in a big end of year production at The Quarry Theatre on 20th July 2024.
This club is open to years 3, 4, 5 & 6. Children outside of this age range will have their booking cancelled.
Whilst children can stay in their school uniform, we prefer for children to change into loose, comfortable clothing such as their school PE kit, or t-shirt and leggings/jogging bottoms.
Branded dancewear can be purchased from the VyMy website but this is not compulsory for the club.
Dancers will need trainers to dance in, as these provide adequate support and protection for their feet for this dance style.
Please make sure your child has a water bottle to bring to dance club. It is preferred that no food is eaten in the dance studio, so you may want to bring a snack for your child to eat when collected.
