The week at a glance
• Day 1 – Foundations: clay prep, centring, cylinders (lots!).
• Day 2 – Forms: bowls & wide forms, trimming techniques.
• Day 3 – Function: mugs, handles, pulling & attaching; plates.
• Day 4 – Complexity: taller/lidded forms, repeat throwing, sets.
• Day 5 – Finish: surface decoration, glazing, firing plan, photo tips.

• All clay, slips, and house glazes
• Bisque + glaze firing of your best pieces (studio-fired after the course)
• Use of wheels, tools & aprons

What to bring
• Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, closed-toe shoes, notebook/phone for reference and photos.

Attendee Instructions – Wheel Throwing (The Ceramic Hub)
Thank you for booking your wheel-throwing session at The Ceramic Hub.
Please read the instructions below so you’re fully prepared for your class.
Before You Arrive
• Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on.
• Shoes: Closed-toe shoes recommended (no sandals or flip-flops).
• Hair & jewellery:
• Long hair tied back
• No long necklaces or loose sleeves
• Rings/bracelets may need to be removed
• Bring: A bottle of water and, if you like, an apron (studio aprons available too).
• Arrival: Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start on time.
During the Wheel Session
• You will learn step-by-step: preparing clay, centring, opening, pulling walls and shaping.
• The wheel can be messy; be ready to get splashed (all part of the fun!).
• Work at your own pace; we guide you through every technique.
• Ask questions anytime; we’re here to support you.
• Phones and bags should be kept away from the wheels.
What Happens After
• Your pieces will be carefully dried and bisque-fired.
• Your booking does not includes glazing.
• We will dip glaze your pieces in white.
• You will be able to collect if you are local to us or receive your pieces within a month of finishing your course.
