Join us as we create still in the energy of Samhain / Halloween when the veil is thin and the ancestral energy is high!
We will make our drums calling in the energy of the ancestors!
In this magical workshop you will create a cross handled drum, working with the hide and hoop in ceremony. There will then be time to decorate the drum, anchoring items to it that call in the ancestors before taking part in a chanting invocation, energising your drum as an ancestral drum!
Melonie will be your guide - supporting you every step of the way to create your drum and beater. We will end the day with a chanting circle calling in the energy of the ancestors into our newly birthed drums!

We each will bring a dish to share so that we can feast during this magical day.
What:
Join us as we open up a sacred space, ground, connect and set our intention to birth our drums. We will open up the doors to invite the ancestors in by building an ancestral altar and create space in our circle for the energy of those long gone to join us.
We will then choose our hoop, connecting to the wood and its medicine. Next we choose the hide we are to work with; honouring the animal before measuring, cutting and preparing our materials.
Later we will weave the pieces together, bringing hide and hoop into union, creating the handle and, should you wish, adding a crystal into the centre of the drum.
You will make a cross handled drum in this workshop so that we have time to embellish the drums also. Bring feathers, hag stones, ribbons, cords, bones and more and dip into the many materials Melonie will bring to weave things onto your drum with intention.
Once complete we will create your beater and take a drum journey to the ancestors and ask them to reveal more to you about the power of this drum.
We each will bring a dish to share so that we can feast during this magical day.

Please note that deposits become non refundable on August 1st as materials will have been purchased. Other payments become non refundable 4 weeks before the event.
Bring a towel, any crystal you might like to add to the centre, a stick elbow to fingertip in length, not brittle or bendy that feels good in your hand. Bring a dish to share for our lunch.
Bring a box of items you may collect from now until then to weave onto your drum. You might use some or none of them but having them with you gives you the option. Melonie will have much to choose from also.
