New Skills. Upcycle. Recycle. Design. Textile Creative.

4x 2-hour lessons where you will learn the basic techniques and terms with hands-on practical sessions from the get-go.

You will be provided with all the basic materials, tools and swatches of beautiful Liberty print, to start, but are also encouraged to bring in any fabric from home such as outgrown children’s clothes or a half started project you have inherited or long discarded to create your unique memory patchwork quilt.

You will be making sample blocks from the first lesson and introduced into a mindful creative world where terms such as fussy cutting, jelly rolls and charm packs become everyday language.

By the end of the 4-week course, you will have been guided towards identifying your own personalised creative milestone, whether it is to make a cushion, table mat, book bag, item of clothing or king-size quilt and be equipped with enough knowledge and confidence to start your project at your own pace.

About Jodie Glen-Martin

Hi, I’m Jodie, a creative with a passion for colour and pattern.

My career started in conservation working on historic artworks and monuments before moving on to Tate where my focus changed to contemporary art.

During this time I was also painting and quilting, with my background inspiring me to combine historic techniques with contemporary design and materials. For the past 10 years, I have painted to commission and exhibited across the UK and never looked back……until Lockdown.

In Lockdown with exhibitions cancelled my creativity was deflected to my collection of Liberty fabric and the beautiful outgrown children’s clothes. My lifelong hobby of patchwork quilting grew into an obsession. When even the cat had a patchwork cushion I started Threadheads, a beginners quilting group, to share my passion around my kitchen table. It became so popular I had to turn people away so I am thrilled to join The Fashion School to introduce my skills to a wider number of people and help you reach your personalised creative milestones.
