Seat Rushing Weekend

Saturday, 23 June '18   10am – 5pm BST
The School of Stuff, B003, Lighthouse Studios, 89A Shacklewell Lane, London, E8 2EB
4 spaces available

Details

Weekend session in which you will learn how to weave a rush seat for a chair. Country chairs were traditionally woven with locally grown natural rushes, which were wound around the seat frame to make a durable, resilient, comfortable and sweet smelling seat. It is a pleasant and satisfying technique to learn.

We use English rushes harvested from wetlands in Bedfordshire. Bring a chair, or if you don't have one we have a few at the studio for students to practise on.

10.00am to 5.00pm both Saturday and Sunday.

We can teach you weaving with Danish cord or seagrass instead in this session if you prefer.

£195 per person.
