A boutique space in Cliftonville specialising in an exercise to release and strengthen the connective tissues in our bodies using the ancient, traditional postures of Tao Yoga.
Classes are held in small groups or one to one by appointment.
This style of exercise is perfect for runners, gym goers and those who do high impact exercise to maintain and strengthen the connective tissues. This can help minimise the risk of injuries. They are also perfect for those with limited mobility but who need to exercise regularly.
As we move through the practice I adjust and apply acupressure during some postures & explain what the body is trying to achieve.
I completed 280 hours training in Yin Yoga Therapy Alexandra Denkinger M.D (Acu) and been teaching since 2022 but have practised all styles of yoga for around 12 years.
What is Yin Class like?
The postures are linked together into a flow that incorporates stillness, mindfulness and time. Often one can feel that the body isn't doing very much at all but it's actually exercising really hard during the class.....just in a different way to how we normally think about exercise (which could be moving the body fast and hard to feel exhausted, sweaty and 'worked out').
In Yin we hold a posture for a minimum of 3 minutes. The first 2 minutes just stretch the muscles and after that the body can move onto releasing the fascia, ligaments and tendons; the connective tissues that hold it all together.
The stillness, combined with tension and compression, aid strengthening but also releasing the connective tissues, can aid bone renewal and creates space in our Meridian lines (also known as acupuncture channels) for our energy to flow.
The body releases Synovial fluids, Hyaluronic acid and Fibroblasts during the practice which helps keep joints supple and mobile.
