Details

The aim of the day is to place/update fixed equipment/climbs at a suitable venue, and give attendees hands-on experience in the process involved, to include: Rigging and rope work systems for cleaning and equipping climb sites. Testing/decision making of suitable quality of rock for fixed protection. A knowledge of different types of bolts. Hands on experience of placing both resin, expansion and removable bolts. An understanding of the ethics/considerations/guidebook updates etc involved.

ALL those attending must be competent in independently ascending and descending a fixed rope: eg using a Petzl Gri-Gri/equivalent and ascender system (there are multiple variations of course). That may include the following:
• AMI Members
• Rope Access Workers with a strong climbing logbook
• MT qualified (RCI/RCDI) instructors with a strong climbing logbook
• Trainee instructors with a strong climbing logbook
• Passionate and committed climbers with a strong climbing logbook

Minimum Kit list:
Need to provide own PPE (harness, grigri, jumar, etc) that is fit for purpose - For sport and trad climbing, and abseiling, and: Ascending and descending fixed ropes.
Helmet.
Clothes/overalls that are suitable for getting drill dust and resin on.

Preferable (but can be provided if needed):
Back-up rope device for 2nd rope attachment - eg Petzl ASAP.
Semi-static rope (40m/50m is fine).
Kit bag for tools.
Clip-stick.
Aid climbing equipment (skyhooks, etriers, etc)
Additional PPE (work gloves, goggles, dust mask, etc)

Workshop ratio - 1:4
Workshop length - Full day
