We’ve got some exciting news! You can now learn these skills in a supportive environment of like-minded women. In this 2 Day Course we will be taking a closer look at the tricks of the decorating and tiling trades.
Day 1 will start with uncovering the secret to decorating success - preparation and practice! You will have your own 'mini wall' to work on and learn how to deal with cracks and holes in the wall and woodwork. You'll learn how to sand, prepare and caulk your wall to be able to paint it to a professional standard. You will discover a selection of different types of paint and learn how to select the correct paint and brushes for the job, along with when and where to prime and undercoat.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to bring along a small item of wooden furniture and learn how upcycle and give your furniture a makeover as well! We have partnered with Claire's Craft House for this who will be supplying the furniture paints. Students will get a 10% discount on any of their paints when ordering from them.
You'll be able to practice with a range of different paint brushes and learn 'cutting in' - getting a clean and crisp edge to your paint work, so that you can get started at home with confidence!
Day 2 will teach you the how to tile on a horizontal and a vertical surface. You'll learn about how to have your tiles stay on the wall and identify the right tiles for the job. We'll show you how to select and mix adhesive and grout to the right consistency. Break our tiles, not yours while you practice and have a go at cutting tiles with a tile cutter and a wet saw after measuring, marking and setting out your tiles on your 'mini-wall'. We will guide you through the whole process from choosing the right tiles and adhesive, preparing the surface, marking out and cutting all the way to grouting and applying silicone to end up with a professional finish. Complete the course to start on your tiling and decorating adventures to give your home a makeover!

This event is for women only.
Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and wear sturdy shoes. Bring a note book, a packed lunch and a face mask (optional) with you. There will be tea making facilities and biscuits available.
You are also invited to bring along a small item of wooden furniture to upcycle!
