A three part training programme led by Paul Rusby – National SIAMs Team

We are delighted to offer spirituality training, which has been secured in response to your feedback. Following on from conversations with leaders in both church schools and non-faith schools, we have recognised that an area people either need support with or want to focus on is spirituality in schools and trusts. Leaders have shared how the ‘first S in SMSC’ can sometimes be the hardest to feel that it’s done well. Spirituality is one of the golden threads in SIAMS (Statutory Inspections of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspections for church schools and a focus for all schools within OfSTED inspections as part of the school’s provision for SMSC within personal development. This training will support all schools, wherever you are in the journey, with really considering what spirituality can and does look like in your school and/or trust.

We know that lots of schools and trusts are keen to work on this so are delighted that Paul Rusby, a member of the National SIAMs Quality Assurance inspection team will be leading a course of 3 spirituality sessions. Paul has worked in schools for over thirty years, including Head of Church of England schools. He is passionate about CofE schools and the impact that they can have on the flourishing and wellbeing of pupils and adults. Paul has a particular interest in spirituality blending together his theological training, SIAMS experience and leadership roles in schools.

Thursday 25th January 24 - Session 1: An Introduction to Spirituality
Monday 26th February 24 - Session 2: Spirituality in the Curriculum
Wednesday 6th March 24 - Session 3: Spirituality in Collective Worship

Each session will commence at 3.45pm and last around 60 minutes.
