Build your strength, balance and co-ordination. Ballet is a classical dance style with roots in France and Russia, focusing on using set positions and lines to create movement.
Pupils will learn the basics of this dance style through exercises and routines, with some challenging advanced steps thrown in for fun! The majority of the club content is based on French ballet, which means your children will probably learn a bit of French as well.
There will be frequent opportunities to perform throughout the school year, culminating in a big production at the end of the year at The Quarry Theatre on 20th July 2024.
This club is open to children in years 3, 4, 5 & 6. Children outside of this age range will have their booking cancelled.
Whilst children can stay in their school uniform, we prefer for children to change into loose, comfortable clothing such as their school PE kit, or t-shirt and leggings/jogging bottoms.
Branded dancewear can be purchased from the VyMy website but this is not compulsory for the club.
Dancers may participate barefoot, or there are ballet shoes that can be borrowed. However, I cannot guarantee all sizes will be available. If you would like to purchase ballet or jazz shoes for your child, please contact nisha@vymydance.co.uk to arrange this. You can either buy from us, or we can recommend brands/styles for you (whilst ballet shoes are readily available, not all types are actually suitable as they are more costume-use).
Please make sure your child has a water bottle to bring to dance club. It is preferred that no food is eaten in the dance studio, so you may want to bring a snack for your child to eat when collected.
