‘Make your own traditional Besom Broom’ workshop in the Walled Garden’
on Sunday 24th September 10am -3.30pm .
Broom making is now listed as a red endangered craft, so this is a unique opportunity to learn to carve and whittle your own broom using natural foraged, coppiced, birch and rowan gathered sustainably and locally.
Your experienced tutor Heather McDermott will guide you through the various practical processes which include the use of axes, whittling tools and firepits as well the application of special salves alleged to have protective qualities, warding off negative energy or spirits from your homes!! 🏠
