Details

This year’s European Heritage Open Day theme, "Architectural Heritage: Past Structures, Future Connections," celebrates how historic buildings, landscapes, and spaces connect our past with the future.

Join us for a short guided walk at 11am with owner James Small and conservation architect Stephen Villiers, as they share the fascinating story of the Walled Garden — its history, restoration, and vision for the years ahead.

Tucked away within the grounds of a former 19th-century demesne, this hidden gem is being lovingly restored with sustainability, heritage, and community at its heart. You’ll hear how traditional craftsmanship, ecological principles, and local skills are breathing new life into a once-forgotten space.

Wander through the red brick walls, explore the restored Gardeners’ Cottages, and step inside the Glasshouse to uncover the layers of history embedded in every corner.

Whether you’re a heritage enthusiast or garden lover, this is a rare opportunity to experience a unique restoration project in progress — and to be inspired.

Garden open 10:30am – 1:00pm

Guided Walk: 11:00am (Booking advised — limited to 40 places)

Entry: Free

Dogs: Welcome on leads

Tea, coffee, and traybakes will be available as will our tempting range of homemade Walled Garden jams, chutneys, and award-winning fudge
