Feeling stressed and on edge? Come along to learn breathing techniques to take your mind from the alertness of the “fight or flight” mode to the calm of the “rest and digest” mode.
The pace at which we are expected to live has got faster and faster. Especially so over the last couple of decades. These days our brains have to process so much information and deal with so much (noise and light) stimuli. It’s no wonder we are becoming increasingly frazzled.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to use the breath to slow down. We'll combine the breath with gentle movement whilst standing, and also whilst laying down. When we are able to totally sync the breath and movement we reach a "sweet spot", when our minds switch off and we experience those "where was I?" moments.
We’ll also be exploring yoga nidra (yogic sleep) where the mind is taken to a restful state, between being awake and asleep, via guided meditation. And we’ll do some seated tratak (candle gazing). This practice of meditating on a candle flame particularly suits the cosy autumn and winter months.
Don't be put off by the workshop being 2 hours in length. Feedback from when I last ran this workshop was that the time flew by!
So bring your cushion, blanket and eye mask (if you have one) and allow yourself to rest and recharge over a quiet couple of hours.
Please note - This is a repeat of the workshop held on the 01 December 2024.
Please bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water to keep hydrated.
To gain the most from the guided relaxations it's good to be warm and cosy. It helps to wear an extra layer of clothing (like a fleece or hoodie) during the relaxation and socks to keep your feet warm. You may want to cover yourself with a blanket, rest your head on a pillow or cushion and use an eye mask if you have one.
