How do we individually approach yoga in relationship to our own lives? Can we see deeper into how our yoga practice helps us nurture breath and movement awareness? How does philosophy integrate with how we see and act in the world?

This immersive weekend workshop invites you to explore these questions through the interplay of Ashtanga yoga, mindfulness, movement principles, and philosophy.

Scott Johnson, director of Stillpoint Yoga London, will guide you through a mindful and practical approach to yoga that meets each practitioner exactly where they are.

This weekend is open to all—whether you’re new to Ashtanga, experienced, navigating an injury, or simply curious about deepening your connection to practice.

Workshop Schedule & Sessions

Friday Evening

A mindful approach to Ashtanga Yoga Guided Class ( 7.00pm – 8.30pm)

Join Scott for a mindful approach to practice in this wonderful guided class. The perfect way to start the weekend.

Saturday

Session 1: Mysore, Pranayama & Mindfulness (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

• Guided mindfulness practice to ground awareness in the present moment.

• Breath work and pranayama techniques to develop steadiness and focus.

• Mysore-style practice with individual guidance from Scott, refining alignment, breath, and movement.

Session 2: Patanjali on Mindfulness: What brings you back to you? (1.30PM – 2. 30pm)

This session will look at the yoga sutra and mindful awareness. We will see that a new way of looking is how we can achieve more in our yoga asana practice

Session 3: Helpful Hip Movements (2.45PM – 4.30pm)

The Primary Series is, at its core, an exploration of the body’s patterns. Among these, one of the most fundamental is the dynamic relationship between the hips and the flow of the asanas. When practicing with mindful awareness, we can uncover how the hip joint creates space and fluidity within the series, helping us move beyond the fixation on individual postures and into a deeper connection with the practice as a whole.

In this workshop, we will trace the journey of the hips through the Primary Series, from the asymmetrical poses of the first half to the symmetrical postures of the second half. Beginning with a short mindfulness and breathing practice this workshop will bring fresh insights and practical tools to create space and mobility in your practice, all while ensuring safety and vitality in the body.

Sunday

Session 1: Mysore, Pranayama & Mindfulness (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

• Morning meditation to refine inner awareness.

• Further exploration of pranayama and breath awareness.

• Mysore-style self-practice with individual support to deepen embodiment and practice awareness.

Session 2: Patanjali on Prana: Four ways of noticin breathing (1.30PM – 2. 30pm)

This session will look at the yoga sutra and how it focuses on the breath and importantly, prana. It will help you begin to make you mare aware of the nature of how you practice.

Session 3: Finding a Strong & Spacious Spine - (2.45PM – 4.30pm)

The second half of the Primary Series offer us a profound opportunity to explore the subtleties of spinal movement. With sensitivity, insight, and awareness, we can observe how the energy of the spine evolves as we fluidly move.

Building on the work from the first workshop, this session will focus on cultivating a deeper awareness of the spine's role in the second part of the primary series. Beginning with a short mindfulness and breathing practice we will explore how spinal movement develops in relation to the breath, connecting postures from the first and second half of the Primary Series. We will reveal the continuity and intelligence of the practice.

This workshop is open to all yoga practitioners curious about deepening their understanding of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system.

Who is this workshop for?

• Anyone curious about deepening their Ashtanga Yoga practice.

• Practitioners wanting to explore a mindful approach to movement.

• Those interested in how yoga philosophy meets practice and life.

• Beginners and experienced students alike—Scott meets each student where they are.
