This is a small-group session where you can receive individualised guidance on key Hatha Yoga poses — a chance to really understand how your body works in each shape.
In our usual weekly classes I guide and demonstrate, but there isn’t much time to support everyone one-to-one. This workshop is your opportunity to go deeper. We’ll explore both new and familiar poses, look at how to build strength and flexibility for them, and help you make real progress in your practice.
We’ll play with classics such as shoulderstand, crow and headstand, as well as refining forward folds and backbends we often do together. Expect a relaxed, supportive atmosphere with plenty of fun and plenty of learning. Questions can be asked throughout.
I recommend also booking a spot in the All Levels class that runs directly before this, at 10am to enjoy a good warm up.
You are welcome to book this class if you have been coming to my Thursday and/or Saturday classes, or are an experienced yoga practitioner. Please get in touch with me before booking if you're unsure about whether it is for you.
Please arrive five minutes before the start time.
If you have a yoga mat then bring it along, along with any cushion, block or strap you might use in your practice. Mats and blocks are available to borrow and try out in class, if required. Please email yogi@and.yoga in advance of the class to request one.
Our yoga practice is not a workout class – it is completely different. Try not to eat in the 90 minutes before the start of your class - the movement, meditation and relaxation are easier if you have an empty stomach. Try to be well hydrated too if you can, as we can get quite hot in class and dehydration might cause cramps, and affect your balance. It's a good idea to bring water to sip on in the class too.
You'll enjoy the class best if you wear comfy or loose clothing that's easy to move around in and that you can take layers off as you get warmer, and then layer up to keep comfortably warm as we cool down at the end. This could be loose trousers, leggings or tracksuit bottoms, and a tshirt or comfy top, and also a sweatshirt. Some people like to tuck up under a blanket at the end of class, during final relaxation.
You will not wear shoes during the practice, but some people wear socks/yoga socks when the weather is a bit colder. If you have any questions, then get in touch.
