We are incredibly excited to announce that Christian Pisano @pisano_christian will be teaching a 3 day yoga intensive in York
13th-15th September 2024 at the beautiful Nether Poppleton Tithe Barn.
Here’s a little bit about Christian;
Although Christian Pisano has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for more than thirty-five years, his process has gone through unlearning and deconstructing everything he had learned to bring out what was close to his heart and which does not belong to any system. He feels much more like a wanderer of yoga and asserts this joyful wandering which is the very heart of this exploration. His approach points towards the evidence of Consciousness. We are already what we are looking for even if we have not yet recognized it. It privileges the spontaneous instruction at the heart of each asana as well as the recognition of a living pedagogy which is innate to us, but which we have often forgotten. In his youth he spent several years in India to study with his master. It was also an opportunity to study philosophy as well as Sanskrit. His philosophical inclination leads him towards the non-dual approach of the Trika system more commonly known as Kashmiri Shaivism. He is one of three people to have received an Advanced Senior Diploma from BKS.Iyengar. He is the author of The Contemplation of the Hero, The Thar Desert and The Bear's Growl.

the different form of asanas,
the energetic mapping of the body (adhara)
the firmament (vyoman) in the body (pelvis, abdomen, chest skull)
the breath (svasa prasvasa)
the locks (bandhas)
the seals (mudras)
The weekend schedule;
Friday;
5:00-8:00pm - ‘Rituals of quietness’ Contemplative and meditative gesture in asana.
Saturday;
9:00am-12:00pm - ‘Rituals of ease’
3:00-5:00pm - ‘Preliminaries of reading the body’
6:00-7:00pm - ‘Questions without answers’ or introducing a text.
Sunday;
9:00am-12:00pm - ‘Invoking the digestive fire’
3:00-5:00pm - ‘The spontaneous mantra of the breath’
PLEASE NOTE - General level, 2 years of iyengar yoga practice required to participate. We ask all participants to bring their own yoga mat.
The venue for this weekend immersion is Nether Poppleton Tithe Barn, a magnificent Tudor barn a couple of miles outside of York.

There is plenty of parking close by, there is a an excellent fully fitted kitchen attached to store and make food and drinks, there is a lovely walled Tudor garden attached to the property and beautiful nature walks as soon as you walk out of the barn.

For all workshops we will provide a full refund (less 15% admin & inconvenience fee) to those who cancel 60 days before the workshop commences. After this time, there will be no refund unless your place can be secured from a waiting list, in which case your fee will be refunded (less a 15% admin & inconvenience fee). Should the event be cancelled by Ashtanga Yoga York you will be offered a refund.
Due to teacher cancellations, low bookings or other situations outside of our control, some courses may be temporarily or permanently unavailable. We reserve the right to make any changes to our programme, courses or teachers. Alternative arrangements are offered to the best of our ability but, if not taken up, we do not accept responsibility for any costs incurred, including travel costs.
We ask that you tell the teacher if you have any particular pre-existing injury or illness that is relevant. We advise that if you are feeling any pain or illness during any class you should stop and rest.
