Atelier Māya – Block Printing in Berlin

SLOW CRAFT SUMMER AT ATELIER MĀYA

Atelier Māya is a research-led textile studio in Berlin specialising in block printing, natural colour, indigo, wax resist, repeat design, and contemporary textile practice.

During summer 2026, our regular Community Print Sessions and Māya Open Studio Print Lab are paused while we focus on private textile experiences, visiting practitioners, research intensives, studio consultations, and tailored programmes for small groups.

PRIVATE BLOCK PRINTING AND TEXTILE EXPERIENCES IN BERLIN

Our Slow Craft Summer programme is designed for individuals, artists, designers, educators, visitors to Berlin, and small private groups looking for a calm and thoughtful studio experience.

Depending on the programme, sessions may include:

– Block printing and Print Thinking
– Colour mixing and responsible textile inks
– Repeat design and pattern development
– Indigo dyeing
– Wax, clay, and nori resist techniques
– Natural dyes and earth pigments
– Textile preparation and material exploration
– Project development and creative consultation

Private sessions can be adapted for beginners, experienced practitioners, visiting artists, universities, design schools, cultural organisations, and creative teams.

TEXTILE RESEARCH INTENSIVES

Our private Textile Research Intensives are designed for artists, designers, educators, and creative practitioners who would like to explore textile processes in greater depth.

These one-to-one or small-group programmes can be developed around block printing, repeat design, natural colour systems, indigo, wax resist, sustainable materials, and the participant’s own research or creative project.

Each intensive is shaped around the participant’s experience, interests, and intended outcomes.

PRIVATE GROUPS, UNIVERSITIES AND CREATIVE TEAMS

We offer tailored textile programmes for:

– Individuals and private groups
– Visiting artists and designers
– Universities and design schools
– Cultural organisations
– Creative teams and companies
– International groups visiting Berlin

Programmes can range from introductory block printing experiences to multi-day, research-led textile intensives.

COMMUNITY PRINT SESSIONS RETURN IN AUTUMN

Our Block Printing Community Sessions and Māya Open Studio Print Lab will return in autumn 2026.

These sessions are intended primarily for previous Atelier Māya participants who would like to return to the studio, book a print table, and continue working independently with familiar tools, inks, blocks, and textile processes.

New dates will be released in autumn together with new materials, natural dyes, earth pigments, colour systems, and print techniques.

Community membership remains free. A separate full-membership option is available for practitioners who require more regular studio access.

STUDIO MATERIALS AND INDEPENDENT PRACTICE

Atelier Māya provides tools and selected materials for learning, experimentation, and personal creative practice.

Specialised processes, resist techniques, dyes, and studio equipment are available for independent use after attending the relevant workshop or guided session.

Participants are generally asked to bring their own fabric or products to print. A curated selection of textiles may also be available to purchase in the studio, subject to availability.

All Atelier Māya blocks, pigments, colourways, teaching systems, and studio methodologies form part of our creative and intellectual property. Commercial reproduction or use requires written permission.

For commercial textile projects, creative development, material sourcing, or consultations, please contact us directly.
