Below are training courses from our Somerset Phoenix Project and Somerset Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (SIDAS).
Part 1 - Foundation Sexual Abuse
This is aimed at frontline staff and covers what sexual abuse is and the signs and symptoms, how to react, understanding the trauma, how the court and legal process works and self-care.
Part 2 - Advanced Sexual Abuse
This is a follow on course to Part 1 and you must complete or book to attend Part 1 first.
It covers the different services available, Traumagenic Dynamics of sexual abuse, different behaviours, link theories around trauma and abuse and ways to develop tools to help.
This is a condensed version of our Part 1 and Part 2 sexual abuse courses aimed at managers to help support their own staff.
Covers basics of trauma and the science of the brain, disclosure process, self-care and how to support those you line manage.
For professionals working in a school who have attended both Part 1 and Part 2 of our training. They will become a school champion to train their own colleagues and adapt school policies helping their school journey into becoming more trauma informed to support those affected by sexual abuse.
Somerset Phoenix Project Forum
This is a workshop for all professionals in Somerset to find out about our service and what we offer. It is also a chance to meet with other professionals.
Domestic Abuse Training
The impact of domestic abuse and how to use a trauma informed approach to support children and young people.
Covers domestic abuse and the impact, science of emotions, impact of trauma, behaviours, impacts on learning and strategies to help.
There are three courses to choose from depending on your setting:
- Primary School: aimed at school staff working with Primary School aged children.
- Secondary School: aimed at school staff working with Secondary School aged children.
- Professionals: aimed at professionals working with children and families of all ages.
If you work across all three settings then you only need to attend one as they are all very similar.
