Our resident Super Scientist, Becca Clarkson, opens our 2026 adventures with a cracking session of forest engineering in the Ultimate Egg Drop Challenge! Can we save an egg using nothing but the nature around us? We must scavenge the woodland floor to build a protective landing craft using only what nature provides - springy twigs, soft moss, dried leaves, sticky weed, bramble vines. Becca will help us learn about natural shock absorbers and structural integrity while getting hands-on with nature. Will our woodland inventions hold firm, or will it be a forest floor fry-up?!
As ever lunch is more than just a break—it’s an adventure of its own! Scramble over our two giant fallen trees or play an epic game of hide-and-seek. For those who want to test their balance, the slackline is ready in the woods, or of you prefer a quieter moment – swing in the hammock listening to the birds.
Come the afternoon, and our Forest School Leader, Myra, will be celebrating Easter with some bushcraft bunnies! Using logs, tools and natural materials, Myra will guide us in crafting our very own log Easter rabbits to take home. For those feeling extra crafty, we’ll be learning safe whittling techniques to transform simple sticks into a troop of colourful garden gnomes. Between making, there’s plenty of time for wild play! We can hunt for signs of spring, build dens, or play hide and seek.
*Warm drinks and homemade snacks will be included.
We can't wait to welcome you to Base Camp. To keep your child happy and dry in the woods, please send them with the following:
All seasons
Clothing: Long-sleeved tops and full-length trousers are required to protect against nettles, scratches, and ticks - tracksuit bottoms or leggings are perfect.
Think like an onion! Multiple thin layers (thermal, fleece, jacket) are better than one big coat.
Footwear:
Waterproof wellies or sturdy walking boots are essential.
In Their Backpack:
A change of clothes (extra socks are a must!).
Waterproof jacket and trousers (even on dry days!).
A labelled water bottle, sun hat/sunscreen (summer), or warm hat/gloves (winter).
Packed Lunch (we provide drinks and snacks)
Top Tip: We love mud! Please send your child in old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or snagged.
