Tripadvisor Reviews 2022:
INIS MEÁIN
"An absolute must. Aedín's knowledge and enthusiasm about the wild flowers on Inis Meáin is incredible. We spent a really enjoyable hour and a half ramble with the sea always in sight while Aedín pointed out the many flowers growing in the fields and by the side of the roads. Aedín kept us entertained with stories and tales of the folklore associated with many of the flowers that grow on this Island including the medicinal qualities of certain plants and plants that are still used for cooking. Inis Meáin is a fascinating place to visit and this nature walk is an amazing, unique experience that should not be missed - Stella B "
"Aedín's magical tour gave me a whole new appreciation of what this beautiful island has to offer. As someone who loves to cook I particularly enjoyed the advice and knowledge into which wildflowers I can add to dishes. I also loved hearing the history behind some of the plants our ancestors would have used as medicine. Whether you're a seasoned island-goer or someone new to this rugged landscape, this is a tour you will throughly enjoy - Cara Dublin ".
"We were treated to a relaxed, informative walk with Aedín whose enthusiasm for her subject matter is infectious! She revealed plantlife in the lanes and ditches which had hitherto been invisible to me! She gave us plant names in Engish and in Irish and recounted many interesting anecdotes! After Aedín's fascinating walk I cannot 'unsee' the plants I had blindly walked past on previous visits! For the rest of my week on Inis Meáin my eyes were peeled for Bloody Crane's-bills, Babington leeks, wild orchids, wild carrots and strawberries! - Gráinne M"
"My family (2 adults, 4 children aged 3-10) did a wildflower tour with Aedín on a recent visit to Inis Meáin. I had seen online that Aedín was running a tour on the island that weekend and when I contacted her to enquire whether it would be suitable for children, she very kindly offered to do a separate walk just for us. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Aedín has a great grá (love) of bláthanne fiáine and for the Irish language. We learned so much about the wildflowers, with lots of interesting island history and cultural references included too. The kids loved making flower crowns along the way, and Aedín made sure that the information was fun and engaging for them. Excellent family activity - Caroline"
