Exploring movement from the deep centre of the body

In this immersive workshop, we turn toward the body’s natural centre, often referred to as the deep navel centre or hara. From this place, movement can feel more fluid, connected and whole.

Rather than thinking of the arms and legs as working separately, we’ll explore how the limbs are organised and supported from the centre. When movement begins from this deeper place, effort often reduces and coordination improves.

This session is inspired by a natural developmental pattern known as navel radiation, a way the body first learns to move by radiating outward from the centre.

We will explore:
Finding a fluid, responsive breath and allowing it to initiate movement
Letting ourselves be gently moved rather than forcing action
Retracing navel radiation pathways, sensing how limbs connect to the centre
Exploring the space around us (our kinesphere) with awareness and curiosity
Understanding how flexion precedes extension, softening before reaching outward
Coordinating breath, centre and limbs in slow, integrated movement
Through guided exploration, we’ll invite more elasticity, continuity and ease into the body, allowing movement to feel less fragmented and more whole.

Suitable for all levels - no prior experience of somatics required.
