The Pottery Playground is the Clay Half summer pottery class for Primary School kids - It will be a relaxed fun clay session. Due to the technical nature of working with clay children should be aged 7-12 years.
I will introduce simple hand-built pottery techniques, and have plenty of ideas to inspire you if you need them but it's best if you have a plan of something you want to make. You are welcome to bring a drawing or picture, but you can make anything you like (within reason!). There will also be a couple of pottery wheels out so you can have a go at that if you'd like to!
The cost for a two hour session includes all materials and firing costs. Book for 2 or more people per class or 2 or more separate sessions and you'll receive a 10% discount on checkout.
You can choose to decorate your creations on the day with underglaze or come back for a separate glazing session at an additional cost.
The maximum class size will be 6 students.
Level: Beginner, Suitable for all levels
This class is aimed at children aged 7-12, (there is a separate class for teens).
Your pieces will be made and possibly decorated in one class using coloured underglaze. Your pots will be then be fired in the kiln and finished with transparent glaze by us, or you can come back and glaze them yourself if you've not used underglaze, before they are fired again. Then you can collect them and take them home. Finished pots will be available for collection within approximately 4 weeks.

A bit of info on getting here/parking etc.
Address:
Clay Half
55 Murray Street
Montrose
DD10 8JZ
Murray Street is easily accessible via public transport as it's just a short walk from the High Street, with bus stops and Montrose rail station a short distance away.
Public car parking is currently free in Angus. There is short stay car parking on Murray Street but it's only for 1 hour during the day. The nearest long stay car parking is very near, it's called Murray Lane and is just to the west of Murray Street. Accessed from Strathmore Place a close (lane) leads you directly from the car park onto Murray Street opposite the Clay Half.
Parking at Lowerhall Street is a little further away, near Basin View and Aldi and the train station, but it is long stay and there are electric charge points there.
