Details

Learn how to make an oval Willow Basket in this two day workshop with Matilda Grover.

You will learn how to make a beautiful oval basket, woven using the Catalan base method and finished with a twisted willow handle.

DAY ONE

On the Saturday morning we will cover material preparation and selection. You will then start to weave the base of your basket around a pre-made Willow hoop. Each base weaver is then bent upwards forming the sides and you will then start to weave the main body of your basket.

DAY TWO

On the Sunday you will continue to weave your basket to the desired height. Once achieved, it's then time to create the border and make a twisted Willow handle to complete your oval shopper basket.

FURTHER DETAILS

Whether you are completely new to basket making, or have made a handful of baskets, this workshop is suitable for you.

Weaving is a physical process and so reasonable hand strength is required.

This two-day workshop is open to adults (18+) is open to all abilities including beginners, and is a fun activity to share with friends or as an individual.

Refreshments, a light vegetarian lunch and the items you have made to take home are included in the workshop price.
