Hypertufa Classes:
Hypertufa is a man-made form of Tufa; a naturally occurring limestone or volcanic rock used in ancient times as watering troughs and containers. The pots are meant to be rustic and ancient-looking. As they weather and age, they will take on an even more rustic appearance, even allowing moss to grow on the outside. Hypertufa is very porous and allows excellent drainage for plants.
Come play in the mud and make a light-weight durable concrete planter that looks like ancient stone. We will spend time learning to mix hypertufa ingredients to a perfect consistency to make a bowl or pot for you to bring home. Included are various molds which you can choose from to make your own unique hypertufa pot. This course is designed to give you all the basics you need to continue creating on your own. Various printed materials will be given out as well.
This is a hands-on class so “dress for a mess”!

Concrete Leaf Casting Classes:
This is a way to preserve your favorite leaves in a hands-on class making a concrete casting, a process that creates cement molds from your leaves. The natural depressions and veins of your leaf are captured in amazing detail. Once cured, you can hang them or use them ornamentally in your garden.
You will learn the step-by-step process of mixing the correct concrete mixture and then creating leaf casts with leaves that are in season. You’ll choose your favorite leaves and then create one or two molded leaves to take home. All materials included. This workshop is great fun, but messy so wear old clothes! Masks and gloves are also provided.

As co-creator at Sticks and Stone, your instructor, Diane "the hypertufa lady" has been displaying her work in the Kentucky and Tennessee area for several years. She began teaching 8 years ago and thoroughly enjoys sharing her passion for concrete!
