An Introduction to Somatic Movement

Detaljer

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and anyone wanting a refresher in somatic movement.

Through simple, gentle movement practices, you will learn how this approach can improve mobility and bring a sense of ease in the body.

Gradually sensing our body, we can begin to release previously unconscious patterns of tension. Your brain learns to let go, and replace tension with ease in movement. This can help relieve long-term pain, ease arthritis symptoms, reduce stress and support general health.

Movements are mostly floor-based, with some standing practices.

The workshop is in two parts:

Controlling the muscles of the trunk and limbs. (mostly floor based positions).
Noticing how we stand and walk, and how to find freedom in our everyday natural movement Standing somatic movements and floor work.

The two sessions will be divided by a tea break and discussion with an explanation of how somatics works.

Beginners welcome. Please contact me if you would like to discuss suitability of the class for you.
