OFFERED IN COLLABORATION WITH GARDEN JUJU COLLECTIVE
A weekend of exploring sense of place and ecopsychology. How can we cultivate abundant, healthy places and people?
Saturday theme is Ecopsychology, Place & Self. (Exploration).
Our sense of place in this world and our ecopsychological relationships with everything – including forests, rivers, gardens, towns, more-than-human beings, highways, climate change, beliefs about nature – are fundamental to us. These are our deepest relationships and are bound with our senses of safety, belonging, identity and having a purposeful place in our world.
Exploring sense of place and ecopsychology offers us tools and skills, ideas and language. These are ways to find our wellbeing, are a body of literature and can be used as an essential design tool.
We have so many relations with the world around us. What are they? What are their qualities? What might our childhood experiences have to do with these? What of literal and metaphorical relationships? Participants will learn about sensing place, ecopsychology, a series of place making exercises and will emerge …changed. This powerful approach helps us illuminate and re-enchant our relationships with our felt living world.
Sunday theme is Healing Self and Land. (Application).
It has almost become radical to live life centered around principles and practices of care and healthy living. The range of harms being done to, and experienced by, people, communities, more-than-human species and ecosystems grows and grows and is often overwhelming and paralyzing. How can we make life – and all our relationships that make life – healthier?
Workshop day 2 identifies ways that we can take action. Through building participants’ own self-care and land-care practices as we develop approaches to co-healing people and the planet. Activities include a deep exploration of core needs, an outline of collective trauma and mapping ‘zones of care’. Our ‘15 ways to co-heal people and planet’ booklet offers inspiration and a set of activities for healing and facing into harms and collective trauma.
This weekend workshop will be held in ways that are stimulating, supportive, nourishing and restorative. What are our place and ecopsychological relationships and how can we co-heal these? Participants will come away with insights, ideas, tools as well as clear practical next steps in their lives.
