Online Five week Baby Massage Course includes baby massage instruction with handout that has all the massage strokes all from the comfort of your own home.
There will also be an in person follow up available. But unfortunately we can't specify when that will be available (due to Covid19 restrictions).
Baby Massage can aid digestion, help to establish a sleep pattern and assist in alleviating symptoms of colic and constipation.
What you need?
To be able to watch the class online (using a laptop, phone or ipad) using an app called Zoom.
A comfy and quiet spot on the floor for you and baby.
For the instructor (Elaine Walsh-McGrath) to be able to see you, using the video on your device so that she can give you feedback and support on the massage strokes.
The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) is the only baby massage course in Ireland that is recognised by Private Health insurance companies. So you may be able to get some or all of the cost of the course may be refundable if you have private health insurance, depending on your cover.
They (the IAIM) have strict guidelines and policies in relation to how we provide our classes both in person and online.
They recommend that Mum massages baby in the first course. Another member of the family is welcome to do the course after Mum has done the classes. They also recommend that only one person massages baby and ideally the session is one on one because otherwise baby can be over stimulated.
We are not allowed to record sessions, we must provide a registration form and it needs to be completed prior to class, we have to fill out a simple evaluation form for each class to make sure that you are happy with the settings.
In the online setting the IAIM have stipulated a maximum amount of 4 participants per course to allow us to interact and be able to give you the optimum amount of attention.
*Please note that class fees are non-refundable unless the organiser cancels a class.
You will need to wear comfy clothes so that you can get down on the floor with baby and move around.
A comfy blanket for baby to lie on while they have their massage and a cushion for you to sit on the floor so that you can move around easily during the class.
Sunflower oil (preferably organic, can be bought in Tesco in the cooking oil section)
Warm room so that you can take baby's clothes off, down to their nappy, while we do the massage.
The class is baby led so if baby needs to feed or be changed that usually happens in the room while I teach.
