The Safe Space - Sensorium CIC

The Safe Space is a voluntary run, non for profit, community interest company. We provide community services specifically for SEND families as well as the public.

We are pleased to introduce our newest project and welcome you to Sensorium — a calm, sensory‑STEM play environment designed for neurodiverse children and their families.
All ages welcome under 18.

All sessions are parent‑accompanied, meaning you stay with your child throughout, and we create a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where everyone can regulate, explore, and play at their own pace.

We offer a mix of Public, SEND‑friendly, and Teacher‑Led sessions.
Each session is a small‑group and capped to maintain a calm, predictable environment.

What to expect:

A gentle, sensory‑rich play space

Low‑demand, child‑led exploration

A welcoming, non‑judgemental community

Clear structure and predictable routines

Breaks between sessions for reset and cleaning

Nappy‑changing/toilet facilities available

Refreshments available, including hot drinks and snacks

Accessibility:

Sensorium, is located behind pizza plus though the alley way . Please ring the doorbell upon arrival.

There are buggy bays outside in front of the building.

There is no car park at Sensorium but there is parking at Mill road car park a short walk away.

The premises is wheelchair friendly.

If you have any access needs in the meantime, please contact us — we’ll always do our best to support you.

Important information:

Parents/carers must supervise their children at all times.

Please book one ticket per family/group (not per child).

If you can’t attend, please cancel so another family can take the space.

There is a self service kitchen available. Parents/carers can purchase their food/drink items at the desk in the back room, then prepare in the kitchen.

There is an accessible toilet and nappy changing facilities available for families.

Children and adults are welcome to remove their shoes as we understand many children have sensory preferences.

Please note* there is a water experimental zone, we have water mats/carpet and aprons available but please bear this in mind when removing shoes.

Only foods purchased from the Sensorium may be consumed onsite.

*Cancellation Policy:

If you can no longer attend your session, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so another family can take the space.

Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the session will receive a full refund or can be transferred to another date (subject to availability).

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the session are non‑refundable, as we are unlikely to fill the space at short notice.

If you do not attend your session without cancelling, the booking is non‑refundable.

If we ever need to cancel a session, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another date.
