This retreat is designed to bridge the solitude and challenges of self-discovery with the warmth and support of shared humanity that a community can provide. A sanctuary for embodied souls seeking both space for themselves and connection.

Covering two key parts of the freedomDANCE Curriculum ('Unity' Category of Level 2 and 'Here I Am' of Level 3), this retreat will be facilitated by Alex Svoboda, founder of the practice.

'Unity' delves into the layers of connection that enrich our lives, guiding dancers through a progression from self-acceptance to a deep, wordless communion with the community and, ultimately, with the Universe.

'Here I Am,' Alex’s signature structure, offers a space for vulnerability and visibility, inviting participants to move in their truth, to shine and be seen in the light of genuine presence and support.

This will be an immersive experience where every movement and moment is an affirmation: You are not alone in your journey, your joy, or your struggles.

Here’s what Alex says about the retreat:

It's a poignantly personal workshop. I originally planned to run it in Autumn 2023. However, the serious deterioration of my troubled hip and ensuing operations postponed this gathering. Having gone through the crucible of major surgery and the utter helplessness during a challenging recovery, I am more ready than ever to offer this work. I know that I could not make it alone, and I am passionate about taking this message wherever I go: May we have faith that there are hands that can hold us when we need them, both real and metaphorical, both visible and invisible, those that have names and those that don’t.

PREREQUISITES
Although there are no formal prerequisites, we highly recommend that you have at least 20 hours of prior freedomDANCE practice or discuss your experience with conscious movement with us before booking.

TEACHER TRAINING CREDITS
The retreat is approved for the purposes of freedomDANCE teacher training and professional development and is counted as 12 hours of Level 2 ('Unity' category) and 18 hours of Level 3 ('Here I Am').

COSTS
Tuition: £363 (£333 if paid fully by 28 April)
Accommodation, food, and travel expenses are paid separately.
