Here 4 U Online Peer Support Service
Important Notice
Here 4 U, the online peer support service run by and for former service users of St Patrick's Mental Health Services, is closing. The last Monday evening session will take place on Monday, 11 October at 7pm and the last Thursday morning session will take place on Thursday, 14 October at 10am.
As you may know, this service was established by the Service Users and Supporters (SUAS) Council in response to the public health restrictions in place to limit the spread of Covid-19.
These restrictions meant that a lot of the supports and resources that we ordinarily use to maintain our mental health and wellbeing were unavailable to us during that strange time.
SUAS members saw the need to develop an opportunity for former service users to come together online and support each other, and so they launched Here 4 U on 25 January 2021. Since then, Here 4 U has provided 65 sessions, received 267 bookings from 55 attendees. The feedback from attendees was very positive and many told us that Here 4 U was a very important support for them.
However, as public health restrictions have eased over the last few months, the demand for Here 4 U has declined. We see this as a very positive outcome as it signals that Here 4 U achieved what it intended to do; it provided a supportive outlet at a time when so many were not available.
As we all begin to enjoy the return to in-person activities, we feel it is the right time to close Here 4 U. We want to thank you all for attending and supporting Here 4 U over the last ten months.
And on behalf of the Here 4 U Steering group, we would also like to thank our volunteer peer facilitators for providing this service. They all did a fantastic job, and it has been wonderful getting to know them during this time.
Stay well, and thank you all for supporting Here 4 U.
Kind regards,
The Here 4 U Team
