Sunday Specials, with Feeling Sound, are about exploring a new way to rest and relax.
For those who love music, and are curious enough to explore new ways of bettering their mental health in a welcoming, like-minded community: We welcome you!
The specially designed sessions interweave sound therapy, guided meditation and performance….move seamlessly between electronic music, traditional and classical instruments…
On today's menu:
16:00 - 17:15 Live Music For Meditation
18:30 - 19:45 Immersive Soundbath For Relaxation (Separate booking required)
MUSIC FOR MEDITATION:
Music and Meditation is an experimental approach to live music, a hybrid of live performance and guided meditation. The aim is to create a more immersive gig experience, using music as the object of meditation - with the help of a qualified secular meditation instructor.
For our first ever showing, we’re delighted to be welcoming Lo Five - the melodic ambient handle of Neil Grant, a Wirral-based producer who creates hazy tape-worn beat-driven soundscapes as an outlet for an ongoing interest in consciousness and enlightenment.
Check out his latest release Superdank - ‘an aural voyage’, for a taste of what to expect.
His music has been described by critics as: “The sound of a Commodore 64 dreaming it’s a jazz orchestra, or a broken music box trying to remember a rave from 1993 – familiar enough to hum along, alien enough to make the hairs on your neck stand up in delighted confusion…”
Neil has been running successful events just like this in Liverpool, and it’s an honour to have him onboard to bring a slice of this creative r&r to Glossop!
The meditation for this session will be guided by Feeling Sound’s qualified meditation teacher, Clare Savory, who’s also a musician and sound therapist.
The performance and guided meditation will last approximately 45 minutes, with a brief period before and after for introductions, explainers and feedback.
Why not make a night of it? Pop for a bite to eat in nearby pubs in between sessions, and then return for an immersive sound bath?! Book both now, before you forget.
