2026 Lifeguard CPR/AED Basic Life Support with Oxygen Administration

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation - Long Island Region will be offering certification courses for the region’s lifeguards working the 2026 season. Instructors will be conducting American Heart Association CPR/AED Basic Life Support with Oxygen Administration.

All courses will be held at West End 1 in Jones Beach State Park.

If you would like to register for one of the classes offered by Long Island State Parks, you MUST register online. We must meet the guidelines set by The American Heart Association with regards to class capacity. Therefore, lifeguards must be registered in advance to attend a class. Walk-ins are not permitted. No admittance after the class has commenced; please arrive by the scheduled time.

There will be no wait lists. Anyone seen registering for more than one course will have their previous duplicate registrations deleted.

All courses are in-person training only.

Course Requirements:

• Attend the entire class.
• Participate in all skill sessions and scenarios.
• Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios.
• Pass the final written exam.
