Venetian Carnival is coming to Windmill Community Gardens Margate!

Join us at the Garden on Saturday, 14th February from 11am to 1pm, for a family friendly mini event as we celebrate the beautiful diversity of our community.

Carnevale in Venice is an important festival for both adults and children — it’s an occasion to dress up and celebrate with friends and family.

The celebrations last several days and culminate on Martedì Grasso (Mardi Gras). During Carnival people eat sweet treats like "fritole" (fluffy balls of fried dough enriched with candied fruits and raisins) and galani (fried sheets of pastry covered in icing sugar) and many more.

This year we're introducing these celebrations at Windmill, opening the Gardens for a festival of costumes and music, fun and traditional food.

What do we have on offer during this day?

Food: a variety of traditional Carnival sweet treats from Venice. Savoury options will be available as well. We’ll have mulled apple juice to keep us warm!

Live Music and a Carnival Conga through the Gardens at noon

Our Market Stall with seasonal, chemical free and locally grown vegetables
