Dowel Books

This is an online event.

Joining instructions will be provided after booking.

Details

These intriguing and attractive structures are perfect for housing collections of references, trials or folios of calligraphed pages, as well as offering an alternative to framing calligraphy or paintings. The workshop will concentrate on refining skills in accurate measuring, cutting and scoring to enable us to make folded portfolios with pockets and pages which lend themselves to a multitude of uses.

We will then make a triptych with dowelled hinges, using contrasting or decorated cover papers, resulting in light, adaptable and beautifully presentable constructions to carry lettering or designwork.

Instructions

It may be quite difficult to work along with me as you’d be measuring, marking, cutting and folding at the same time as watching how to do it all, so I’d suggest watching and then have a go yourself, referring to the recording for anything you missed first time around.

You’ll be asked to mute your sound, but there will be opportunities to ask questions and contribute to the processes.
After booking your place PDF handouts will be emailed to you 3 days before the workshop date. The recording cannot be downloaded but will be available to view for 30 days afterwards.

Any links sent to you should not be shared with anyone else, as per the Ts & Cs, thank you.
