Ever wondered how sniffer dogs are trained? Ever thought your dog might have a hidden talent for sniffing? Do you wish your dog would calm down? Have a high energy dog in need of a challenge? Have an anxious dog? Want to teach your dog to be calm around other dogs? Love truffles and would like to see if your dog can find the 'black gold' of the food world?
This workshop is designed to allow pet dogs to train to find truffles. Scent training is a great physical and mental workout for the dog and they love it because smell is their primary sense - they're literally made for it! We liken it to mindfulness for dogs. As well as being great for your dog this is a really nice accessible, low impact, social, outdoor sport for the owners.
Who is it suitable for?
This workshop is open to all dogs and owners, with no previous experience or even basic level of obedience required. In fact we find dogs who have had no previous training seem to excel the quickest in scent detection!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE OUTSIDE - WE DO STILL GO AHEAD IN THE RAIN/ FROST ETC! WE WILL ONLY CANCEL IF THERE IS AN EXTREME WEATHER EVENT.

Please bring with you:
-a 2-3 metre lead
-a well fitted harness and a flat collar
-A medium or large red kong (must be red as this is our target scent - different colours will smell differently and could be confusing for your dog)
-high value treats such as hotdogs or cheese (that does not crumble) cut up into small pieces and place in a treats pouch or bumbag
-fresh bottled water and a bowl for the dog
-your dogs favourite toy
-poo bags
-appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear
-coat for your dog if needed
a mat or something for your dog to settle on during short rest breaks -a dog with a nose!
