On this one day course you will learn how to make a D section ring, hand fabricate a setting in fine silver and set a cabochon stone. This course is a great place to start if you have little to no silver jewellery making experience. You will be guided through the whole process and will take home a beautiful finished silver ring.
We run a very friendly and relaxed workshop, all our taster classes offer a gentle learning curve for beginners to start making silver jewellery and try something new. If you’re completely new to jewellery making and unsure if a beginner term might be too much of a time investment to find out if you enjoy working in silver, then a taster class is worth considering.

Materials
Sundries such as solder and saw blades are included in the course fees. Metals, findings and a variety of stones are available for purchase at the school.
For a guide regarding the cost of the materials for this course the silver and 8mm purple amethyst size N ring pictured on the course page costs around £15.00. The price will vary depending on ring size and selected stone.
Students are welcome to supply their own gemstones provided they meet the project requirements. Stones must be round cabochons and no smaller than 6mm. If you already have stones but are unsure if they are suitable feel free to bring them along, your tutor will advise in class.
We receive a lot of enquiries about 'sea glass' for this course. This course covers the techniques that can be adapted to set sea glass, however we recommend you start with a regular shaped stone if this is your first time setting a stone.
