We run this 2 day weekend course as a small class size limited to just 5 students, available in 2 ticket options to suit your budget.

Learn to recycle old gold or use new gold grain to create a beautiful gold jewellery piece from scratch. Beginner friendly.

This two-day, hands-on gold jewellery course is designed to teach the art of goldsmithing, from creating your own raw gold material to finishing a personalised piece of jewellery. Whether you're working with recycled gold jewellery or fresh gold grain, you will learn essential techniques, including alloy identification, gemstone setting, and gold finishing options. On completion of the course you will leave with a beautifully crafted piece of jewellery made entirely by you.

Course Schedule

Day 1: Creating Raw Material & Understanding Gold Alloys

  • Explore the differences between various gold alloys and learn how to identify each by recognising hallmarks.
  • Learn how to recycle old gold jewellery or use new gold grain to create your own raw material.
  • Master the techniques of rolling and drawing metal to create various section wires for your design.
  • Begin crafting your unique piece of jewellery using the gold you’ve prepared.

Day 2: Crafting & Finishing

  • Continue shaping your piece, adding a small gemstone with a precise gold tube setting.
  • Explore alternatives to working with solid gold, including gold plating and filled gold finishes to add a professional touch to your designs.

Who Should Attend?

Ideal for jewellery makers with some prior experience, this course will refine your technical skills and introduce you to new processes in goldsmithing and jewellery finishing.

Course Materials

We have 2 ticket options for this course

Ticket option 1: Recycling your old gold jewellery Includes gemstone, stone setting, filled gold and plating solution. This ticket option does not include gold grain. This ticket is only for those who would like to recycle old gold jewellery.

Ticket option 2: 9ct gold grain Includes all materials required to complete this course including 9ct gold grain.

We do not carry gold stock on the premises, all materials, including gold grain and gemstones will be ordered near to the course start date.

Please bring an apron to protect your clothes. We take an hours break for lunch, packed lunches are recommended since lunch options are limited in the area.
