Details

The session will be split into 3 parts - pre-run, run, post-run. Each section will build and develop an understanding of the body and breath, how and why we move in a certain way, why pain presents in the body when we run and possibilities as to where it originates from. Alongside this will be understanding and using different breathing techniques to support running at different intensities.

Pre-Run:
The pre run part will aim at educating around how we interact with the ground, focusing on a different body part relevant for running & movement, using one or two key exercises to mobilise the part of the body.
The intention will be to help build an understanding of how injuries / discomfort can present when running and steps to alleviate this going forwards.
Each week will build from Feet, hips & pelvis, pelvis & skull to ribcage.

Before going out to run check in with your breathing and physiology using two assessments - BOLT score (blood level oxygen test) & Max breath hold

Run:
Experience & use different breathing practices to understand when & how you would use them within your own running. Consider how to harness your breath, how you can change how you breathe when you run to support improved running. Within this will use nasal breathing, mini breath holds, recovery breathing. Alongside this connect with some of the pre run movement work and apply what has been learnt.

Post-Run:
Use the breath to help calm the nervous system post run. Combine with posture to help maximise a shift in state. Any questions around the workshop.
Retake BOLT / Max breath score.
