In this 90-minute workshop, participants will be introduced to Joanna’s practice of deep listening through movement, sensing, sound, stillness, and partner work. Together we will explore how attention and presence can deepen connection and open new pathways for improvisation.
Rather than focusing on patterns or technique, we will investigate the subtle space where dance emerges through listening—to ourselves, to others, and to the shared environment. The workshop is open to all participants and requires no previous experience of Joanna’s work.
About Joanna:
Joanna Rosenfeld is a performance maker, director, dancer, and body-based researcher whose work explores memory, grief, transformation, and the relationship between the personal and collective body. Drawing on over twenty years of teaching experience and a background in physical theatre, Contact Improvisation, and Butoh, she creates spaces for deep listening, imagination, and embodied discovery.
Her current research explores the space in between—between impulse and action, self and other, technique and creativity—where new possibilities for movement and connection can emerge.
