Details

The Minster Learning Alliance is running three moderation groups for primary colleagues over the course of the year. These groups provide the opportunity to share examples of work, marking standard and inform curriculum development. Moderation groups are focused on: EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Throughout the year, we will explore a range of practical hints and tips, which can be applied in our classrooms to support a range of learners and improve outcomes. This is an opportunity for us to work together to develop our own practice and confidence in teaching, learning and assessing in year 6.

This session will involve looking at children working at or on the borderline of expected standard and within greater depth.

Group leads:

Eliza Blakeley has over ten years teaching experience across Key Stage 2. Over the last 6 years she has taught in Year 6 and is an Assistant Head and the SENCO at Sutton Road Primary school. Eliza has experience of leading moderation sessions across a range of different schools. In addition to this, she has experienced being moderated by the Local Authority and the STA. In the last couple of years, she has qualified as a Local Authority year 6 writing moderator. Eliza is passionate about inclusion, supporting all learners to achieve their full potential and is keen to celebrate all children’s successes.

Amy Woodhead has over ten years teaching experience within year 6 and is an Assistant Head at Holgate Primary School. Amy has led a range of different moderation sessions including with partner schools, families of schools and within the collaboration. She has also worked to support new to year 6 staff to build their own confidence in understanding the Year 6 writing curriculum and how to assess this accurately. In the past she also worked with the LA as a Year 6 writing moderator. Amy is a big believer in inspiring children to reach their full potential through providing a range of opportunities, successfully supporting children and celebrating their successes at the end of their Key Stage 2 journey.
