Networks provide a strong and supportive professional learning community, ideal for leaders and teachers who wish to work together to explore best practice education from a national and local perspective. They provide the opportunity for professionals to collaborate and share strategies to improve outcomes and experiences for pupils in all schools.

When creating a year plan for the wellbeing and mental health network, at the forefront has to be the Coronavirus pandemic and how staff and students have and still are dealing with this, and the support we can offer them. Drawing upon expert advice & guidance, alongside the latest Ofsted framework, we will aim to explore a range of issues that the pandemic has confronted us with and approaches to help allay them. Accordingly, we shall aim to explore more general proactive wellbeing and mental health policies and practices used within other schools or proposed by other professional bodies e.g. Anna Freud Centre. This will be approached taking account of schools who have a wellbeing and mental health policy firmly embedded and those who are still developing one.

Shaun's also the lead for wellbeing and mental health, primarily focused on staff, but also encompassing elements of the same for students, Shaun has led on this through possibly one of the most testing times for education and his approach is to always look outwards and follow the latest news and research, while looking for practical and impactful steps to improve wellbeing and mental health for all.
