Absolute Beginners Yoga Workshop

I know that going to a Yoga class can be daunting, everyone else knows what their doing and your trying to fathom out your left from your right whilst balancing on one foot - so confusing! That's why I have been teaching my Beginners Yoga courses and workshops the last 10 years, so no-one is left behind getting lost in class.

My Yoga workshop for absolute beginners is the best place to start if you have no idea where to begin and want to build your confidence knowing the poses. You'll be guided step-by-step on the essential Yoga postures, along with variations, should you need them, so you learn how to practice Yoga safely to suit your body and needs.

The workshop is suitable for those that have zero Yoga experience so you'll be in good company. However, if you are feeling a bit nervous, ask a friend to book with you. It's much nicer and more fun having a friend around in class.

Please note, you will be moving throughout most of the workshop and there are some weight-bearing postures on the wrists, e.g. Plank Pose, Downward Facing Dog. This course is not suitable for any injuries nor any trimester during pregnancy. Please email me before booking the course to check to see if it suits you, I'm happy to answer your questions before you decide to book.

What to expect:

  • 1.5 hours of step-by-step Yoga tuition
  • Learn the essential standing, seated, reclining and groundwork postures
  • Posture variations
  • Learn how to make Yoga suit your body, not the other way round
  • Guided relaxation at the end of the class
  • Gain skills and confidence to explore other classes

Date: 9am, Saturday 20th January 2024 at The Shirley Institute, B90 2AX.

Please bring your own Yoga mat to the workshop as this helps avoid the spread of potential skin complaints, bugs and germs.

Use code: JAN5 for your early bird discount at the checkout.

Look forward to meeting you, Nam.

Equipment and what to bring:

Please bring your own Yoga mat and water with you to class. Mats are no longer provided as this helps limit the spread of Covid-19 and other germs, viruses and skin conditions. Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in, e.g. Leggings, Joggy bottoms, sports top and a hoodie or a sweater. Yoga is best done barefooted or with socks on, footwear is not recommended.

Your health:

Unfortunately, classes are not suitable during any stage of pregnancy or injury.

Though Yoga may seem easy in comparison to other activities, it is still an exercise which some may find physically exerting.

To keep the sessions running on time, if you have any health concerns that you feel I should know of, please email me back on This could be anything from frequent headaches to a past operation that you had. This will be helpful for me to know in case you need an alternative posture offered to you during the sessions.

Parking & finding us:

Parking is free at the rear of Shirley Institute. Find us in the Large hall at the front, access via the side alley door (black with ramp infront).
