Alpaca Experiences
Private Alpaca Experiences
Every visit to Natterjack Alpacas is bespoke, and all our alpaca experiences are completely private.
Your 60 minute private experience begins with a proper introduction to your new alpaca friends. You will learn a little about alpacas and how they like us to interact with them before taking part in some gentle hand feeding, alpaca cuddles and plenty of photo opportunities. You will also take a relaxed walk around our private farm, with plenty of time simply to appreciate being around these beautiful animals.
This experience is perfect for families with children and anyone looking for a shorter alternative to our 90 minute alpaca treks. As every experience is private, we can also take things at a steadier pace where needed.
If you are aged 16 or over and would prefer a more walking based activity, spending time with your individual alpaca for the session, we recommend booking one of our alpaca treks instead. Please visit or return to our website and follow the appropriate link.
Before booking, please read the following guidelines carefully to ensure that the experience is suitable for everyone in your party.
Important Information
A. Children and Supervising Adults
Anyone aged 15 or under must be accompanied by a paying adult aged 18 or over.
Adult tickets apply to everyone aged 16 or over. However, for insurance purposes, every booking must include at least one person aged 18 or over for every two children aged 15 or under.
This ratio is essential. If a booking does not meet this requirement, an additional adult will need to be added. We cannot offer a refund if an additional adult cannot be found.
B. Interacting with the Alpacas
Although our herd is extensively trained and accustomed to a wide range of experiences, alpacas are still animals. They may be lively and excitable or calm and relaxed on the day.
This is an ideal activity for anyone who feels nervous around animals, as we can move at your pace. Please let your guide know if you are unsure or would prefer a slower introduction.
C. Toilets
A toilet is available on site. However, as it is located across the farmyard, we prefer to treat it as an emergency facility to be used at the beginning or end of your experience where possible.
D. Footwear and Clothing
Suitable footwear is compulsory, as we will be walking across grass.
During summer, we recommend trainers or walking boots. During winter, walking boots or wellington boots are best.
Alpacas have softer feet than horses, but footwear that fully covers the toes must be worn throughout the year for safety.
We do not allow umbrellas during the experience, so please bring suitable waterproof clothing if rain is forecast.
E. Accessibility
Unfortunately, because of the nature of the ground, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs, mobility scooters or prams throughout the year. Please contact us before booking to discuss what arrangements may be possible.
Some walking aids may be suitable, but please be aware that there is a short walk of approximately five minutes from the car park to the barn.
We will always do our best to design an activity that suits your needs.
F. Dogs
Dogs are not permitted on site, including guide and assistance dogs.
G. Insect Repellent
As the experience takes place around animals in open countryside, we recommend using insect repellent.
H. Weather
Our experiences run in most weather conditions. They will only be cancelled in the event of storms or dangerous local road conditions.
I. Arrival Times
Please arrive no more than five to ten minutes before the scheduled start of your experience. A guide will collect you from your car when we are ready for the session to begin.
If you expect to be late, please contact us as soon as possible.
J. Cancellations, Transfers and Refunds
We do not offer refunds.
If you give us at least seven days’ notice of a cancellation, we will transfer the value of your booking to a gift voucher valid for 12 months.
Cancellations made with fewer than seven days’ notice are not eligible for a gift voucher, transfer or refund, and the full value of the booking will be lost. This is because we often cannot fill cancelled spaces at short notice.
If you used a gift voucher to make your booking, the value paid with that voucher will be returned to the original voucher and will remain subject to its original expiry date. It will not be transferred to a new voucher with a further 12 months’ validity.
Any additional amount paid will be issued as a separate gift voucher valid for 12 months. Similarly, transferring a booking to another date will not extend the original voucher’s expiry date.
K. Spectators and Larger Groups
We do not offer spectator tickets.
If your group includes more than eight people, please contact us before booking. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Thank you. We look forward to welcoming you to Natterjack Alpacas!
