Why another Qur’ān study course?

The purpose of a miracle is to increase the īmān of those who witness it. The Qur’ān is the miracle sent to the Muslims, but how many of us understand its miraculous nature?

In this class you will come to appreciate the wonders of the Qur’ān.

  • You will gain an appreciation of the power of the language, and the perfection of the Qur’ānic style such that not a single word of the Qur’ān could be replaced with a better alternative.

-You will study the science of ‘munāsabāt’ through which you will come to understand how each and every ayah is perfectly linked to that which comes before it and that which comes after it, both linguistically as well as in subject matter. How the beginning of each sūrah is linked to its ending and how the end of each sūrah links perfectly with the beginning of the next sūrah.

  • Many Orientalists have criticized the Qur’ān for being haphazard in its order, where the ayaat jump from the story of Ādam and Iblīs to that of Mūsa and Fir’awn and then onto the Day of Judgement in the space of a page. You will come to understand how these powerful stories, despite their differences are perfectly linked and how the ordering of the ayaat actually proves the miraculous nature of the Qur’ān!

  • You will engage in ‘tadabbur’ (contemplation of the ayaat of the Qur’ān) which is one of the greatest ways to increase your īmān, reflecting on the many points of tadabbur mentioned in the classical works of Tafsīr.

-You will study the ‘asbāb un Nuzūl’ (causes of revelation) to garner a deeper understanding of the events from the seerah surrounding the revelation of certain ayaat.

  • And finally, you will learn how to apply that which you learn to your daily life, making this a practical course not just a theoretical one.
