As winter settles across the Lake District, join Bee Adventures for a unique evening adventure through quiet valleys, woodland paths and hidden landscapes lit only by torchlight.

Guided by the gentle glow of our headtorches, we’ll begin in the picturesque village of Elterwater before making our way through rolling hills and winding trails toward the dramatic Cathedral Quarry, a vast hidden cavern tucked deep within the mountainside.

Walking through the darkness brings a completely different perspective to the outdoors. The usual distractions fade away, replaced by the crunch of boots underfoot, the stillness of the night and the shared atmosphere of exploring somewhere wild after sunset. Along the way, keep an eye out for reflections of stars above the fells and listen closely for the sounds of nocturnal wildlife moving through the landscape.

Reaching Cathedral Quarry feels like stepping into another world. Towering rock walls, hidden chambers and the quiet echo of the cave create a memorable finish to the journey before we begin our return beneath the winter sky.
