Mum and Baby yoga, Abingdon
My Mother and Baby Yoga classes are designed for you and your Baby to do together. My aim is to provide you with a way to ease yourself back into exercise after the birth of your baby. We use yoga based exercises and poses to help increase fitness, to strengthen and tone abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles, to regain good posture and to increase energy levels, as well as passing on some vital relaxation techniques. These classes are specifically designed to be gentle and are suitable 6-8 weeks after giving birth. I am trained to be aware of the special needs of mothers in the postnatal period.
For your baby, we do a range of movements to aid their development and hold their interest. We have a few activities dedicated to just baby, but throughout the classes they are alongside you and involved. Baby can gain new skills, stimulating their senses and encouraging physical and emotional development getting to know their own body better. Often mothers find that their baby relaxes and sleeps better after sessions. Babies love music and singing and this features throughout the classes (even if you doubt that anyone appreciates your singing voice, babies can be wonderfully uncritical fans!).
As these classes are for you and baby to do together, it should make the logistics of attending a postnatal exercise class easier for you, and also allow you and baby to carry on building on your relationship together, helping provide a solid foundation for your baby’s development.
Just as important for me is to bring mothers together and giving you a chance to make friends and exchange support and experiences with people who understand what might be going on in your life right now. There is a chance to say hello and introduce yourself and baby at the beginning of each class, and, I will help you all link up through a WhatsApp group if you wish.
I am keen to continue offering these classes at this time when it is so easy to feel isolated as a new parent. I understand that many people may be feeling under pressure financially so I have tried to keep prices as reasonable as possible. If your income stream is particularly low at the moment, please contact me to discuss and we can decide the best pricing option for you.
